Domain
To find a good domain name is always a very difficult and tricky task, and definitely it won’t get easier in the future with more companies competing to get the same domain. The domain name is very important. In most cases it will follow the company till the end, so this is not the right place to make a mistake. To help you out we have listed a guideline what you should consider when you buy a domain. Though in some circumstances the guideline can be almost impossible to follow. If you need any help in this critical area, please let us know.
Always stick to .com for international business
If you have a company or an organization which is targeting a specific country (geo-targeting) then it is a good idea to buy the local TLD (top level domain name like .no for Norway .se Sweden .dk for Denmark etc.). If your business is not targeting any specific area then always stick to .com extension if possible. Because a .com domain will boost your company’s credibility. Where would you feel more comfortable to buy your new camera from a .me or from a .com domain? Or even worse would you trust a real estate company with a .me domain? I would not. But .me domain makes perfect sense for a private website with all your holiday pictures. The extension .com is one of the oldest and using it shows that your business has been around for a while and your business is well-established.
Keep it short
Although some places allow you to register a domain with up to 63 characters, this is not a good idea. Short names are easy to remember and easy to type. If a domain name requires considerable attention to type correctly due to spelling, length, or the use of unmemorable words or sounds, you have lost a good portion of your branding and marketing value. Another fact is that a shorter name will allow you more space for your company description in the search engine, (SERPs). And it will benefit you on the offline media such as on business cards, office paper etc. Sale personal have been taught for years about the value of avoiding the letters q, z, x, c and p.
Make the Domain Unique
Try to find a unique domain name and never choose a name which will be confused with another website. Never choose a domain that is simply the plural, hyphenated, or misspelled version of an already established domain.
Make it Easy To Remember
Don’t forget the value of word-of-mouth marketing, you don’t want to have the best looking website on the internet, which nobody can remember the name. Make it easy for people to remember and to pronounce the name
